big sur beauty

photos by Robert Canfield and Claudio Santini

The Coastlands House was designed by Carver + Schicketanz for a retired couple in Big Sur. Big Sur is one of the most beautiful coasts I have ever seen. I'm sure the view they get every morning is nothing short of amazing. See more here.

Meier's Malibu

Richard Meier designed this expansive Malibu beach house awhile ago (2002-2006), but I have never seen it before. I love the movable louvers and materials, (although keeping that teak wood that color on the beach? Good. Luck.). I am assuming they have a very busy handyman/woman! But oh so beautiful.

This is so sweet. Created by blogger Kelli Murray for her daughter's first birthday party. Very cute party all round. You can check out more photos here.

story pool house

Check out this lovely 'outdoor living room' in Center Point, Texas by Lake Flato Architects. The Story Pool House was created with Texas limestone, steel, and wood. The structure also provides shade from the hot sun and includes a full kitchen, screened bath, dining and storage area. Very swank.

sea cave restaurant

Tucked away in a large sea grotto in Southern Italy is this unique restaurant called the Sea Cave. It's only open in the summer, very exclusive, and the only thing separating you from the crashing waves is a small railing.
