beautiful metro station

Check out one of the beautiful, new Metro Art Stations in Naples, Italy. The Art Station program has been going on for some time in Europe. This particular one was designed by the Spanish firm of architect Oscar Tusquets Blanca. Wouldn't mind going down into the subway around here if the stations looked more like this. So pretty.

carved book landscapes

This is pretty amazing...artist Guy Laramee created two series (Biblios and The Great Wall) of carved old books. I can't imagine how much time these took to make.

DIY calligraphy

As a lady with horrid handwriting, I am always enamored with beautiful, swirly calligraphy. I mean, look at that envelope address! It's a work of art. Now, some kind people at Jones Design Company have created (awhile ago) an easy tutorial for creating your own swirly, lovely pseudo-calligraphy. Very fun.

woods of net

photos by Abel Erazo via

Look at this amazing permanent play structure entitled, "Woods of Net" created by Tezuka Architects, Japanese net artist Toshiko Horiuchi Macadam, in collaboration with structural engineers Tis & Partners. The pavilion is located at the Hakone Open-Air Museum, a unique open museum located in one of the most visited tourist spots in Japan. It was all hand-knitted and kids can crawl inside, roll around and jump in the net. Built to withstand kids and the elements.

spot vessel

I like these spot fasset vessels from Stampel Studio in Melbourne, Australia. They're $45 and made from post manufactured waste timber, finished with a plant based eco wood oil. The inside has been lined with beeswax to enable some water for your flower.

teluria candelabra

Well, this is funky fun. Note Design Studio's Teluria Candelabra. The designers tell us, "An original “Tellurion” is a mechanical representation of the Earth-Moon-Sun system that reproduces the relative movement of the three bodies. The model visualizes the causes of night and day, solar and lunar eclipses and the phases of the Moon."

You can get it from Swedish manufacturer Klong.
