carved book landscapes

This is pretty amazing...artist Guy Laramee created two series (Biblios and The Great Wall) of carved old books. I can't imagine how much time these took to make.

DIY calligraphy

As a lady with horrid handwriting, I am always enamored with beautiful, swirly calligraphy. I mean, look at that envelope address! It's a work of art. Now, some kind people at Jones Design Company have created (awhile ago) an easy tutorial for creating your own swirly, lovely pseudo-calligraphy. Very fun.

christmas in a jar

This is a super cute idea...DIY advent calendar. Use the strips of paper to write down activities like "see a movie" or "visit a friend" and glue a pom-pom on it. Each day your little person gets a new, fun activity or gift, and then you sew a new ball onto the garland. Get the whole tutorial on Poppytalk.
