flashlight slippers

I think you would be nominated for "Hostess of the Year" if you presented your visitors with some lighted slippers. The wool slide-ons have a 25-foot lighting range and sensors that only activate the shoes when it is dark. $40.

twinkle twinkle

I bought two boxes of these amber/copper-wired, cordless lights from Restoration, and they were so very pretty at Thanksgiving. The lights are smaller, brighter, and the wired cord allows you wrap around anything. It runs on double-A batteries, so you can sprinkle them anywhere. Love these! They come in several different hues and are range from $12 - $89 depending on length.

teluria candelabra

Well, this is funky fun. Note Design Studio's Teluria Candelabra. The designers tell us, "An original “Tellurion” is a mechanical representation of the Earth-Moon-Sun system that reproduces the relative movement of the three bodies. The model visualizes the causes of night and day, solar and lunar eclipses and the phases of the Moon."

You can get it from Swedish manufacturer Klong.

panic button light switch

This is hilarious and may actually get your roommates or family members to turn off the lights (in dramatic flair). The Panic Button Light Switch also comes with a dimmer. Of course, you can still smack it on or off while screaming if you prefer.

(plexi) glass house

I want this for my backyard! Artist Tom Fruin created this from steel, found plexiglass, and paint. A stained glass house - how cool. Saw this on Pinterest.

hexalights

Hexalights were designed by Marcus Tremonto.  They look kinda strange, right?  These lights include electroluminescent paper (an organic material that emits light when excited by an electric current), sandwiched between two thin layers of plastic.  They don't emit heat.  Electroluminescence was first developed in 1960 for use in automotive instrument panel backlighting.  Pretty cool.  Available at Moss for $670 per lamp.

This award-winning bag includes LED signal lights and a wireless, hand-held remote so you can clearly communicate with drivers without your hands leaving the handlebars.  Pretty cool.  By Lee Myung Su Design Lab.

astro star projector

It's not just a pretty nightlight - it rotates (batteries), and can be adjusted to your exact location so you can 'see' the night sky.  A DIY kit from Infmetry for $22.
